Description
White rose of York painted on the side of a narrowboat that was moored in the historic town of Skipton in Yorkshire. Narrowboat painting goes back to the mid nineteenth century with many families using signwriting to decorate their boats with lettering, flowers and other objects.
Roses and Castles is the popular name for the traditional paintwork of the narrow boats, bunches of roses and medieval castles being common features.
